About MCMZ
A youth-led response to child marriage
Founded in Choma in 2008, Musokotwane Compassion Mission Zambia (MCMZ) is a youth-led organisation working to address early and forced child marriage and sexual exploitation. Its work brings together child protection, education support, advocacy and capacity building.
MCMZ supports girls retrieved from child marriages and those at risk through safe shelter, basic needs and education sponsorship. It also works with communities, traditional leaders and policy makers to strengthen the response to child marriage.
The organisation's original website describes its establishment as a response to the findings of the 2007 Zambia Demographic and Health Survey.

Our Work
Four thematic areas
MCMZ works within Zambian government policies and frameworks across four thematic areas.
Education Support
- Sponsoring education for girls retrieved from child marriages.
Capacity Building
- Training survivors and their communities, including traditional leaders, chiefs and headmen.
Advocacy
- Weekly radio programmes, school and community outreach, and print and electronic media sensitisation.
- Engaging policy makers at community, district, provincial and national levels on public finance management.
